At this time, I am not planning to support seperate database installations. I am not familiar enough with the SMF code to prorperly ensure the security of such support.
This is because I have decided not to use the SMF forum system here and simply offered the SearchBot to fill a need that I found. The lack of a searchbot was the biggest motivation for not using SMF to begin with. I have other issues with SMF that are not relevent here but have limited my interest in developing the searchbot more than it's basic use.
I am happy to announce that JoomlaHacks finally decided to spend a weekend and create a Joomla-SMF SearchBot that works with their Joomla-SMF bridge component. Since their component allows for seperate databases, I would imagine that their SearchBot also support seperated databases.
You can find the NEW SearchBot here:
Joomla-SMF Searchbot 0.1Beta
As I stated when I started the website, I will be happy to research any PHP question that anyone asks and provide the best possible answer to that question even if the answer is not on this website and doesn't benefit myself in any way!
I wrote the Joomla/SMF SearchBot because it was needed and at the time was the best possible answer to the problem.
Now, the best possible answer to the Joomla-SMF SearchBot problem seems to be
Joomla-SMF Searchbot 0.1Beta!
I hope that this will provide you with the results that you are looking for.
