Excited about this mambot, but having a little trouble getting it to work.

After installing smf.searchbot.1.0.3, I get an error when I go to Joomla/Adminstrator/mambots/site mambots/Search SMF

"Restricted Access"

In the panel, it shows this mambot as locked... (SMF.searchbot)

Any ideas what might be happening. I'm stumped.

Yeah, I got you covered. The most recent release of Joomla has a tiny bug in it that causes this. Kind of wish they had just released a new file but they didn't and are not going to.

There is a patch for this. It can be found here: http://forum.joomla.org/index.php/topic,89865.0.html

The file is called &quot;admin.mambots.php.zip&quot; and is attached to that topic.

Just unzip an upload to the correct directory overwriting any duplicate files to fix the bug.

I did what you said. Downladed the entire joomla files and then found the file you said (admin.mambots.php )but it was not ziped so I copied it and move into that area of my joomla install but it is still locked and restricted. FYI when I went to that posting (the link) the only files there were full joola install files - Any ideas how to get this working? I cannot even delted it because it is locked. Help I am a noob in regards to this. Thank you in advance.

You went to the post but you didn't read the entire thing.

It is possible that you have to register there to see the attached file. It is not a link in that post, it is an attached file to that post.

It is very near the end of the post. It only contains the required files and is not available in the rest of the upgrade packages!

It must be installed seperately, the installer file contains the incorrect files which is why there is this single patch.

You must find the linked text that reads exactly like this:
admin.mambots.php.zip

I would direct link it or offer it here but it isn't really an issue that relates to this site and is readily available on the Joomla! Forums.

Really bothers me that Joomla! hasn't released an upgrade file with this fix already in it. They are too busy working on the next version to put together a zip file with all of the correct files in it!

Anyhow, I assure you that the file you need is on the page I linked above and it will fix your problem.

Sorry but I am an egar beaver and forgot that on most of these sites you will to register and logon before you will be able to even see the download file.

I did just that - Registerd and logged on and lo and behold the download file.

I applyed the update per your instructions and all is well.

I am a newbie at the Joomla thing and just want to get a feel for the program before going live. Thank you again for all of your help with this. I really do appreciate all the help that this entire community gives. One day, as my knowledge and experices increases, I will also give back and keep giving.
