We are pleased to announce that Handy PHP has been recently upgraded.  Now that the majority of extensions used for the website are compatible with the new software that makes the site work, an upgrade was warranted.  We hope that this new generation of Joomla! (the content management system the runs Handy PHP) will offer the flexibility we require to bring our users the services they desire.  With this generation of software, upgrades merely require new files to be copied over outdated files and the upgrade is complete.  This ensures that we can provide the latest security and management features available to the system.  It won't be until another generation leap is made before a complex upgrade like the one performed recently will need to be undertaken.

Upgrading the software isn't the most recognizable aspect of our recent efforts.  The most noticeable change is the new template.  The new template which still has a few modifications coming to it was based on a template originally designed for a Handy PHP freelance client.  The current template may be used as the basis for a series of template Handy PHP will offer for download.

Soon we hope to offer website owners of PHP related websites the opportunity to promote their websites here with detailed articles about their sites.  Offering our users information about other PHP websites will likely help everyone involved.  Visitors will know that they can get unbiased information here and will likely return while websites that choose to provide articles about themselves will gain visitors and interest in their sites.  An article submission system will be created for this purpose.

We also intend to offer users a means by which they may submit PHP tutorials and PHP functions to the resource section of the Handy PHP website.  Another section for PHP classes will be added for this purpose as well.  For PHP developers with website that they already provide PHP scripts, tutorials, classes, and functions, we will provide a directory for them to list their creations.  Another directory of links will provide website owners a place to list the site with a breif description as well a providing users with a means to find them.  Categories would include PHP dsicussions, PHP tutorials, and PHP scripts.

Providing users, devlopers, and website owners with a place to find and submit resouces, Handy PHP hopes to fill the gap between the content available and the people looking for it.
